Sindy Warren has been practicing law and helping employers comply with employment laws for 13 years. For the past 4 years, Sindy has run Warren & Hays’s predecessor, Proactive Employment Practices. She conducts workplace investigations, creates and presents training programs on a wide variety of employment law and human resources issues, and acts as an as-needed human resources department for private and public employers, both large and small, throughout Northeast Ohio. She has investigated many employee complaints, including complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, fraud and other workplace misconduct. She has trained managers and employees on issues ranging from harassment to performance management. She has provided one-on-one sensitivity training to executive and other supervisory employees. She has also provided consulting services including creating employee handbooks, revising policies and procedures, and assisting employers with discipline and termination issues.
Prior to starting her consulting business, Sindy was an employment litigator for McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen in San Francisco; Foley Hoag in Boston; and Duvin, Cahn & Hutton in Cleveland. Sindy graduated from Stanford Law School with honors in 1996 and Tufts University (Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude) in 1993.
Sindy brings her legal expertise and experience to her consulting work. Combining extensive legal knowledge with a practical, down-to-earth understanding of employee relations, Sindy is able to help companies develop and maintain sound employment practices and positive working environments.
In her spare time, Sindy works as a Guardian ad Litem in Juvenile Court where she represents the best interests of children. She also tutors elementary school children in the Cleveland School District through the Cleveland Jewish Federation’s Public Education Initiative, for which she also sits on the Board of Trustees.
Jennifer Hays Gorman has been practicing law for 19 years. For the past 10 years, Jennifer has served as Senior Attorney for a privately-held company based in Cleveland, Ohio with worldwide operations. In this capacity, she has extensive experience with HR and employment law issues from an in-house perspective. Jennifer has implemented and conducted training in a number of areas (including harassment and discrimination in the workplace; corporate confidentiality; legal issues in recruiting, interviewing, hiring and firing). She has investigated and successfully resolved numerous employee claims, ranging from sexual harassment to employee theft. Jennifer has negotiated, mediated, arbitrated and litigated employee claims in court in numerous jurisdictions and through the company’s alternative dispute resolution program. Jennifer also has experience in handling and responding to EEOC and other administrative claims, and implementing affirmative action plans.
Prior to her position as in-house counsel, Jennifer was a business and employment litigator for Ulmer & Berne in Cleveland. She represented employers in a variety of disputes in and out of court. Through her extensive experience as a litigator, Jennifer has developed her skills as a negotiator and evaluator of employment-related disputes.
Before practicing law, Jennifer graduated from Cleveland State University law school with honors in 1989 and received a BA from Miami University in 1986.
Jennifer brings her legal expertise and experience from an outside and in-house counsel perspective to Warren & Hays. She combines this experience with the people skills she has developed over the years investigating employee claims and developing and implementing employee and executive training programs.
Jennifer is an active member of the American Corporate Counsel Association, serving on the Northeast Ohio Board for a number of years and was a speaker at the 2007 annual conference. Outside of work, Jennifer is busy raising her three children, being involved in school activities, and a committed yoga practice.
